Presenter : Dr. Louis Prisock.
For:
Progressive activists, scholars, or anyone who has an interest in
how the African American Community is affected by political and
social ideology.
Description: Within a half a century
American conservatism has gone from the margins to the center of
American politics, also impacting both the economic and social
segments of our society. Institution building, mobilizing grass
roots social movements, and effective use of the media have all been
contributing factors to in conservatism's rise in the United States.
Another key element to conservatism's rise is its use of race and
its framing of African Americans, in particular, within its
discourse. These presentations and discussions will examine the rise
of the Right and the impact the Right has had on the African
American community regarding economics, politics and the media.
